Ad Ambert, piccola municipalità di Auvergne, nel 1844, in nome del decoro dell’udienza, un giudice di tribunale vietò agli avvocati di poter prestare la loro difesa in una causa con il pretesto che gli stessi portassero i baffi. In questo saggio si osservano siano le implicazioni quanto accaduto, che va oltre l’epifenomeno.
